Well done to our two teams of the week from Friday night VJBL the Girls Under 12.5’s and Girls Under 14.4’s.
Under 12.5 Girls
Currently the 12.5’s are coached by Chris Swenson who had this to say about his team:
“The Magic 12/5 girls are made up of 1 double bottom age and 8 bottom age girls. Majority of the team are new to representative basketball. The team had a tough start with the grading games, coming up against some tough top age teams. To the girls credit they stayed resilient and picked up vast knowledge through the process. The girls finished in Regional North 2, and have had a strong start to their season. The team prides itself on a hectic full court defensive game, and quick ball movement in offence. These girls are quick to learn and should have a successful season if they continue to train and play the Magic way.”

Under 14.4 Girls
The Under 14.4’s are coached by Lizzie Carty who shared with us their season so far and goals for the rest of the season:
“The main achievements so far this season are making finals in the Dromana (3rd place) and Eltham (2nd place) tournaments, as well as making VJBL 4. Challenges have been a few injuries and close losses in grading. Goals for the future are to play our best game for as many minutes of game time, whether we win, lose or draw, to put in 100% at training and games, work together as a team on and off the court and for both the players and coach to further develop their basketball skills and knowledge.”

Well done to both these teams who do a great job representing Hawthorn Magic in our VJBL competition. We wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the season.
