Over the past week at the Australian Junior Championships in Kilsyth, it wasn’t just on the court where we were well represented, it was also off the court where some of our Technical Officials represented Hawthorn with distinction.
Statisticians Kevin Ng, David Grant, Tom Denovan and Lucas Dunoon along with Scoretable Official Scarlett Yosiffidis plied their craft at the tournament which showcased the best under 16 talent in the country.
In exciting news for Hawthorn, Dunoon has been selected as a member of the stats crew for the Australian Boomers Olympic preparation match against a Pac-12 College All-star team this Thursday night at Hisense Arena which will feature the likes of recent NBA championship players Matthew Dellavedova, Patty Mills and Aron Baynes.
Hawthorn Technical Officials Manager Kevin Ng praised those who took the opportunity to learn and develop by working at the championships. On Dunoon’s selection for the Boomers game, Ng said “Lucas is very deserving of the opportunity to work at international level. It’s just reward for the commitment, dedication and hard work he has put in for the Magic BigV program in recent seasons.” He added, “it is very satisfying as I got my chance at the Olympic qualifiers at Rod Laver Arena last year and now with Lucas getting an opportunity, it shows that our program at Hawthorn is producing quality officials that are being recognised at the highest level.”
The Hawthorn Basketball Association congratulates Lucas on his selection and wishes him all the best for his international basketball debut on Thursday night!
