The Hawthorn U18 2 girls have experienced it all so far in the 2017-2018 campaign. Led by Head coach and former magic great, Zac “Zacamanis” Natoli, the girls have seen a lot of growth this season.
As the 24th seeded team heading into the year, the girls faced a juggernaut of a schedule through grading. However, sticking with the script and committed to improving, the girls bounced back in a big way. Heading into championship Sunday as the 4th seed in the Dandenong-Eltham tournament, the girls would dig deep and bring home a title despite the extreme heat.
Since then, the girls went on to qualify for VJBL 1 and had a cracking start to the season, steamrolling to a 3-0 start. The train slowed a bit, however, as the team battled injuries and dropped a few close games.
Good news though, as the team has adjusted in recent weeks, and found themselves back in the winner’s circle Friday. This puts a bit of daylight between the Magic and the next closest foe, with the top spot within reach.
The girls are primed for a big second half of the season and a push for finals! Stay tuned for this exciting bunch.
