Peter Buckle appointed as Big V Women’s Head Coach

Hawthorn Magic is proud to make the first of our Women’s coaching announcements for the 2016 season with Peter Buckle appointed as Head Coach in the Magic Big V Senior Women’s Program.

Buckle has a long history in coaching. Prior to joining the Magic, Buckle was Head Coach of Great Britain Women’s team in 2014-2015, Assistant Coach with the Australia Opals assisting them to Gold at the 2009 World Championships, 7 seasons as a WNBL head coach and 2012 WNBL coach of the year.

Hawthorn’s General Manager, Sheena Atkin, said:

‘Peter has been without question a leading coach for sometime and is known for his ability to instill a professional and high standard culture to teams and programs.’

‘Our Youth League women, along with a strong junior representative girls program, gives us a great opportunity to take our senior women’s team and the senior program to the next level.  To have someone of Peter’s calibre to lead and develop the program is really exciting’.

We are also pleased to announce the re-appointment of our Victorian Youth Championship Men’s head coach, Shawn King, and Senior Championship Men’s head coach, Marcus Timmons for the 2016 Big V season.
