Hawthorn competition has 15 new referees on court from the recent referee school.
These green shirt referees (known as trainees or apprentices) have been running on court all of term 2 as they learn and practice the skills required to be a referee. Each week they have been mentored by the same referee, where possible, who has been responsible for the individual development of their own trainee.
This school had a variety of participants with a mix of girls and boys, participants ranging from 14 years old to early 50’s, participants with a history of playing or coaching domestic and representative basketball.
If you are considering joining the Hawthorn referee team then keep an eye on the Become A Referee Page for further details of our next course.
Well done to each of the guys and girls for taking on a challenging environment and proving they have what it takes.
