Basketball Hawthorn proudly announces Nabia Yakubu will be one of four Victorian referees selected to the 2022 U16 Australian Junior Championships this July!
Nabia started his journey as an official in 2012, currently holds BVC Level 3 Accreditation and notes his best memory as a referee to date as having the opportunity to referee Josh Giddey (NBA | Oklahoma City Thunder) when he was playing for St Kevin’s. Recognized as one of Victoria’s top referees, Nabia can be seen as a member of the VBRA Junior Panel (VJBL | Victorian Championship), Big V competition, and still occasionally in our senior domestic competitions.
The U16 AJCS event will next be held from Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July 2022 at the Warwick Stadium in Perth, Western Australia. Basketball Hawthorn congratulates Nabia on this fantastic and well-deserved appointment!
