Our team started off the season really strong qualifying for VC in the first round and winning the grand final of the Eltham Dandenong Tournament.
We were very impressed with the level of skill that was evident among the group. In the first half of the season, we were unlucky to be in the weaker pool of the VC competition and were not coming up against strong teams each week. The National Junior Classic was a great success for our team and was the biggest challenge we had come across so far playing against the best teams in Australia. Our team finished 3rd which is a major achievement for the group and something that all of the girls should be extremely proud of. Since the VC pools have split, our girls are responding extremely well playing against more challenging opposition each game. They are taking on board everything that we have worked on in training sessions and are beginning to execute them really well in games. All of the girls have developed enormously throughout the course of the season as individuals and as a team. They have each other’s backs on and off the court which is evident through the way they are playing together. They have also developed great friendships which we hope will continue throughout their basketball career and beyond. As a result of their hardwork and determination, the girls have put themselves in a great position to be highly competitive heading into the VC finals. We are so proud of how far they have all come. It has been a great pleasure coaching this group and watching them develop as young women and young athletes.
