Designed as a development pathway, Magic League is tailored for ambitious young players aspiring to compete at the highest levels of junior basketball in Victoria—the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL). Building upon Hawthorn Magic’s rich history of player development and its consistent presence in the top division across various junior age groups, this program is a testament to our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering success. 

Our program comprises three essential components that aim to build strong foundations and skills for your child:

• Squad-based Training Sessions: These sessions, led by our experienced coaches, focus on fundamental skills, teamwork, and game play principles. These sessions will commence November 2023, running through until to June 2024.
• Magic League Competition: Starting in February, this league provides a competitive platform for your child to apply the skills they’ve learned.
• Participation in Tournaments: Your child will also have the chance to participate in two prestigious basketball tournaments during Australia Day and Kings Birthday weekends, competing against top teams from Victoria and beyond.

2023/24 Program Eligibility:

Our inaugural program is being offered across the following age groups:

• Under 12 Program = Players born 2013 & 2014
• Under 14 Program = Players born 2011 & 2012
• Under 16 Program = Players born 2009 & 2010
