The Hawthorn Junior Magic Development Squad is for invited players approximately 9-10 years of age who play in the Hawthorn Basketball Associations Domestic Competition on Saturdays.
The program is an extension program designed to support and complement players weekly domestic club training.
Players are exposed to Magic Coaches, who run sessions that incorporate competitive skills training, and game tactical awareness.
The program is an excellent opportunity for coaching staff and athletes to be exposed to each other enabling greater opportunities for these young athletes to develop their own confidence and basketball skills under the guidance of our experienced Magic coaching team.
Invitations for the program are based on a six month selection period, from the HBAs domestic competition. Selection is based on a players development qualities, character to compete, athletic ability, and basketball skills. Players are identified either by their Domestic Club and or Magic’s talent scout coaches who attend games around the HBA.
We hope to see many our Development Squad players trying out for the next Junior Magic representative season.
The program is an based at Boroondara Sports Centre , on a Sunday afternoon between May and August.
