Congratulations to Jack Barry for being named Big V Round 8 Player of the Week.
This is a great achievement for a guard with outstanding potential for the Magic. On the weekend Jack lead the Magic to a 87 – 83 victory over the Knox Raiders at Knox’s home.
Jack scored 41 huge points in 32 minutes of game time, including 6 treys. Shooting 68% from the field and 67% from the 3 point line, he blew away the Raiders and kept Knox coach, Brett Atley, screaming “guard the shooter”. Jack took no notice, and continued to hit some tough shots while being highly guarded.
Jack is averaging 19.9 points per game at 44% from the field and 35% from the 3 point line. Great averages. He has also made 5 appearances in the State Championship men’s team averaging 5.4 points in around 10 minutes per game. No doubt with more performances like on the weekend, we will be seeing him pick up more minutes with Marcus Timmons’ side.
The Youth League Magic team sit 9th on the ladder with a 5-5 record. With excellent victories over a strong Knox outfit, and earlier in the season knocking off Nunawading Spectres in OT, there is plenty of potential in this team. Watch this space.
Come and watch the Youth League boys play their next match this Saturday at BSC from 8.00pm. Check out the full fixture list here.
