Congratulations to everyone who is involved in any and all of our Hawthorn Basketball Association programs as Hawthorn is awarded the 2015 Basketball Association of the Year by Basketball Victoria.
Hawthorn is extremely proud of the hard work put in over the last 3 years to initiate and embrace significant changes to our association for the betterment of all players, coaches, spectators, officials and administrators. Hawthorn Basketball Association took out the fiercely contested Association of the Year Award for 2015. A worthy and popular choice given the Association’s outstanding year across all facets of their business including membership servicing, junior development, referee and coaching development and junior and senior championship results at all levels.
“The Hawthorn Basketball Association is one of our largest Basketball Associations and the scale of their operations is enormous when you look at the participation base in the region they are servicing. We commend the Board and Management of the Hawthorn Basketball Association for all their hard work and commitment in ensuring they, not only grow their membership base, but also continue to develop the structures, programs and facilities required to cater for the regions basketball community.” Nick Honey (Basketball Victoria CEO) said.

It was a fantastic night that also saw Hawthorn pick up the Referee Program of the Year for the improvement in quality, retention, supervision and training of referees at Hawthorn. The Hawthorn referee program has seen significant changes in supervisor and referee training and governance responsibilities while introducing effective strategies such as the Green Shirt Referee Training Program, Sin Bin Policy, Referee Performance Expectations.
