Domestic Finals Information

As we’re reaching the business end of the winter season, here’s a few things to know about finals.

The top 4 teams in each section qualify for finals. The ladder is sorted by points ratio which is derived from competition points divided by the number of games played. Competition points are awarded as follows: 3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss, 0 for a forfeit and 0 for a bye. In the case of a tied points ratio, percentage (total points scored divided by total points against) is used as a tie-breaker.

In the mixed and junior competitions, there are 2 rounds of finals. In the semi-finals, 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3. The winner of each match contests the grand final the following week.

In the men’s and women’s competitions, there are 3 rounds of finals. In the first week, 1 plays 2 for a spot in the grand final whilst 3 plays 4 (the loser is eliminated). By virtue of finishing in the top 2, the loser of 1 and 2 gets a second chance and will play the winner of 3 and 4 in the second week. The winner of this match progresses through to the grand final.

To be eligible for finals, whilst registered, players must have scored, fouled or signed the back of the scoresheet in a minimum of 5 games (junior competitions) or 6 games (senior competitions) in the regular season. Progress eligibility lists can be found on the HBA website. Make sure you and your teammates are eligible to play. Please contact your club delegate if you have any queries regarding this.

Good luck to those teams still in with a chance in finals.
