Ryleh Killian – Under 21s and Youth Women’s Team and Under 12.1Gs Assistant Coach

Ryleh is an emerging talent at Hawthorn. A current youth league and 21s player, she is giving back to the sport she fell in love with by assisting the Hawthorn Magic 12.1 Girls coach Michelle Brogan.
Ryleh played club level before being selected to play rep at Ringwood then Nunawading and has played at Hawthorn Magic since 18s. She was a student in the dedicated Basketball program at Rowville Secondary College and was coached by Jenni Screen, Eddie Calic and Dean Kinsman.

Coaching came naturally to Ryleh, at 13 she started in an assistant role for an under 10 domestic club team. Ryleh brings fun, hard work and dedication to her training sessions. She always reminds athletes to try their best but to accept their mistakes and just get on with it. She’s a fierce and fair competitor, as a coach and an athlete. A special recent achievement was coaching Basketball Victoria’s Under 12 Jamboree during the school holidays. Ryleh loved the opportunity to be amongst high calibre athletes and coaches from other programs.

Ryleh just can’t get enough of sport. She loves the LA Lakers, the Mavs – Luca Doncic is her fave. In the WNBA, she closely follows New York Liberty and in the WNBL, the Southside Flyers. The Bulldogs are her favourite AFL team, the Dallas Stars in the NHL, Denver Broncos in the NFL and the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash. Ryleh is a little superstitious with her vast collection of shoes, a certain way she likes her socks and eating the same thing before a match.
“I just love watching the Olympics and I think both Australian teams are a big chance this time. The strong culture of the Opals and Boomers will set them in good stead. I will be tuning in to the Opening Ceremony and each match. I also love swimming, rowing, rugby 7s, hockey and all the athletics. Go Australia, and Go Magic”
