CHAMPIONSHIP MEN – Hawthorn 78 defeated Bulleen 74
A 28-14 third quarter by Hawthorn left Bulleen stunned and helped to hand the Magic a valuable 78-74 win on the road. Liam Norton was held to just 9pts for the Boomers and import Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard was again very quiet, failing to lift his average of just 5pts per game. For the delighted Magic, young guns Ben Waldren (22pts) and Dave Schaffert (21pts) showed their more experienced opponents how to get the job done.
DIVISION 1 WOMEN – Hawthorn 59 defeated by Whittlesea 97
A 25-9 opening period has set Whittlesea up for another big win with this time the Pacers coming out on top of Hawthorn 97-59. After leading by 20 at the main break the Pacers showed a real killer instinct putting their foot on the pedal in the 3rd and outscoring the Magic 35-17 in an impressive performance. It was Nae Nae (Kimetria Hayden) leading the scoring for Whittlesea with 30 points and 8 boards and at the other end it was Tash Ross-Harris leading Hawthorn with 12.
YOUTH LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP MEN – Hawthorn 72 defeated by Ringwood 79
Unfortunately the young Magic boys couldn’t get the goods against Ringwood going down 72-79. Daniel Port (18p, 9r) was instrumental for the Hawks while Jack Barry put in a mammoth effort of 26 points and 7 rebounds.
YOUTH LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN – Hawthorn 77 defeated Ringwood 55
Hawthorn shot out of the blocks taking a 20-11 quarter time lead. Magic further increased their lead to 16 points by half time. Two Magic players achieved double-doubles on their way to a 22 point win, Skye Beaton (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Emily Ewart (10 points, 11 rebounds) .
