KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Delta State University’s Jack Madgen and Declan Harrick of men’s basketball were named to the NABC Honor Court for the second consecutive year.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2014-15 NABC Honor Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season, with a record number of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities. The NABC Honor Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
Madgen produced another stellar season for Statesmen basketball and continues to excel in the classroom as a journalism major. The 6-foot-5 three-point shooting specialist averaged 10.1 points per game in 2014-15, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 46.3 percent from three-point range, and 80.4 percent from the charity stripe.
Harrick, also a journalism major, played in 27 games with 22 starts as a center. A native of Melbourne, Australia, Harrick shot 55.6 percent from field goal range on 20-of-36 from the field, while also bringing down 2.4 boards per game.
In order to be named to the Honor Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
