📝 A message from our CEO: Dear Basketball Hawthorn Members, Today marks a significant milestone for our organisation as we unveil Basketball Hawthorn’s 3-Year Strategic Plan. Although I’m only 3 months into my role as CEO, it has been a privilege to work with our dedicated team and board thus far, particularly in collaboration to develop our roadmap that sets forth our vision and goals for the next three years. This Strategic Plan represents our commitment to the growth and success of Basketball Hawthorn. It outlines initiatives aimed at enhancing the basketball experience for our members, fostering inclusivity and diversity, and strengthening our partnerships within the community. As we embark on this journey together, I want to express my gratitude on behalf of the board and our incredible team for your unwavering support and dedication to date. I truly believe that we can achieve our objectives and realise our shared vision through our continued collective efforts. I’ll provide quarterly updates on our progress as we implement this plan, keeping our community informed. In the coming weeks, we’ll also send out a survey to gather feedback, ensuring we meet the needs of everyone involved with our organisation, regardless of their role. Our 12.1 Boys had a special guest at practice last night. Ryder Cheesman returned to Magic practice to help coaches Chris and Will run the session. 

Ryder is a former Magic player and was a part of the 16.1 VC winning team in 2022. Ryder, along with Harry Beauchamp, are two former Magic players that have recently been announced in the U17 Australian Crocs who will compete in Istanbul in June.

Dear Community. Thank you for rallying around each other since the passing of our beloved board member and coach, Craig Bryan. It has certainly been a challenging time and we appreciate the many messages of support we’ve received over the past week for the Bryan Family, our team, and board 💙💚

The Basketball Hawthorn community is invited to join us in celebrating Craig’s life on Wednesday 8th of May, where we’ll live streaming the service from 2pm (1.45pm arrival). 

For venue set up purposes, we ask that you RSVP via the link in bio if you would like to attend. We are encouraging anyone who’d like to wear their Magic gear to please do so.

As you all know Hawthorn was a huge part of Craig’s life and we look forward to honouring him on Wednesday at Gordon Barnard Reserve club rooms (behind BSC).
Last night, some of our team attended the Basketball Victoria Awards. It was wonderful to spend the evening recognising some of the incredible contributions people have made to Victoria’s basketball community. 

A huge congratulations to all association and individual award recipients!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Basketball Hawthorn Board Member and Coach, Craig Bryan on Thursday, April 25th, 2024. Craig was not only an integral part of our organisation but also a cherished member of our basketball community.

His passion for the sport was unmatched, and his dedication to coaching and mentoring players and other coaches inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him. Craig’s leadership on the board was invaluable, and his commitment to the growth and success of Basketball Hawthorn was unwavering.

Beyond his contributions to the sport, Craig will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and infectious enthusiasm. He touched the lives of so many with his positive spirit and genuine care for others.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Craig’s loved ones including his wife Sharne, and children, Olivia, Caitlin, Will, and Jack, during this difficult time. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he coached, mentored, and inspired and will be dearly missed.
